PLANNING YOUR NEXT ESCAPE TO PARADISE

You honestly can’t go past Khao Lak in Thailand if you are in search for a relaxing seaside destination that has it all.  Speaking from experience, Khao Lak is an exotic place to go for a romantic holiday with your other half, especially if you love relaxing pool side, walks on the beach and delicious asian inspired foods to tantalise your taste buds.

Its relatively inexpensive compared to other tropical destinations and being only 60 km north of Phuket, most resorts will organise to pick you up from Phuket airport.  Beyond Resort is an adults only resort ,so perfect for the  ultimate honeymooners retreat.  But if your looking to bring the kiddies the Pullman is child friendly and located next door.  Both these resorts are located directly fronting the Andaman Sea showcasing the most beautiful white sandy beaches to be seen.  This little gem is the perfect destination to dine on the beach and watch the sunset and maybe a few sneaky cocktails.

Asia’s Hidden Secret | Phnom Penh Cambodia

Phnom Penh once known as the Pearl of Asia is a hidden metropolis waiting to be explored. Interestingly Early colonisation by the French has influenced much of this city, with many beautiful French colonial buildings scattered throughout.

If French colonial architecture is your thing you need to visit Cambodia. Phnom Penh was colonised by the French and offers visitors a mixture of Cambodian hospitality with a French and Indo Chinese charm.

The mighty Mekong River and Tonle Sap River lay beside Phnom Penh.  Relaxing on a sunset river cruise is the best way to spend an afternoon here while soaking up the sun with a cocktail in hand.

Popular with tourists and expats is the BKK1 Area, it is fondly referred to as the “foreigners quarter”.  The BKK1 area and the river front offer the best resturants that Cambodia has to offer.  A diverse range of dinning options  will be found here such as French, Italian, Japanese, Cambodian, Chinese, just to name a few.

After you’ve had your fill at BKK1, why not take a stroll along the boutique shops of the tree lined street 240? Or make a visit to the royal palace and silver pagoda? Entry is $10 usd per person and a tour guide (should you desire) is an extra $10 usd.

Tip: a tour guide will give you an insight into the detailed history of the palace you really should take advantage of.

image.jpegTuk Tuks are the best way to get around Phnom Penh. A tourist can expect to pay 2-3 usd for short trips and 6-10 usd for longer trips. Thinking of Picking up some gifts for your mates back home? Why not Catch a tuk tuk to the Russian market or central market? you will be spoilt for choice with electronics, clothes, and jewellery, as well as souvenirs typical of Cambodian culture.

A very humbling but absolute must see is the genocide museum. Entry is only 3 usd and you will see and learn first hand about the horrific period where Cambodia was controlled by the Khmer Rouge Regime.  Be prepared for an emotional day.

Accomodation on in Phnom Penh has all budgets covered.  Many hotels and resorts include buffet breakfast which is a great way to start each day.

Popular Resorts to stay –

1 Aquarius Hotel & Urban Resort – roof top infinity pool and bar

2 Sun & Moon Urban Hotel – infinity pool

3 The Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel- roof top pool

4 Sofitel

5 Patio Hotel & Urban Resort – infinity pool

To wrap this up we say “Phnom Penh is the perfect balance to relax, party and shop for nicknacks”.  It’s also the ideal place to go with a small group of friends if sipping cocktails and gossiping poolside is your thing, look no further than Cambodia.

THE BEST PLACES FOR MANS BEST FRIEND

image.jpegEveryone must confess there is nothing better than seeing mans best friend beaming with happiness. Your four legged friend would agree the Gold Coast has the best selection of off leash parks and beaches to make any pampered pooch content.

The Gold Coast’s Spit boasts kilometres of white sandy beach and waves that both you and your dog can enjoy. Morning beach walks and swims during the summer seems to be a popular start to any Sunday among many Gold Coast locals and their pooches, But if neither you or your four legged friend like the water, fear not as the Musgrave Off Leash Agility Dog park could very well be to your liking. This beautiful park with family friendly BBQ rest areas boasts a beautiful pathway with large established trees offering an even balance of sun and shade. This particular park is made even more special because your dog can run free without the concern of your dog running out into busy traffic as the the park is completely fenced in. Musgrave is the largest dog park on the Gold Coast and with acres and acres of space for ones dog to exercise is it any wonder it’s a popular choice amongst locals and Gold Coast Visitors.

The Broadwater Parklands is a great place for families with young kids to take their dogs offering a area that is off leash plus a play area for kids. A short stroll on lead will take you to a dog friendly cafe called Catalina located behind the pool where your pooch is greeted with its own VIP entry.

James Overall Park not quite as large as Musgrave but perfect for those wanting a quaint beach area without the waves. It’s the ideal location to sit and ponder life while your dog digs in the sand. Why not try out all these parks and see which one you love most.

GOOD RIDDANCE DRY LOCKS

Is your hair dry and damaged month after month? and it doesn’t seem to matter what you do, you just can’t seem to ever revive it?

A  HAIR MASK is the easiest and most effective and convenient way to bring your mane back to life, But with so many options on the market, many of us are uncertain which ones work best for us. In most cases a Treatment (Mask) will not do much for your precious locks if you are using it in conjunction with a non professional shampoo as the ingredients in non professional shampoo’s can often make it difficult for the treatment to penetrate and work well in the hair.

If a hair mask just won’t hit the mark, and you still struggle with dry frizzy hair a Keratin Smoothing Treatment could be exactly what you need. It is still considered one of, if not the most effective professional in salon treatments in the world today. This particular treatment will radically reduce frizz, strengthen your hair shaft, and restore that healthy shine that has long been missing from your hair.

‘The introduction of Plexes’ to the market have not only made lightening hair easier but introduced customers to a whole new treatment. The treatment component of a plex service can also be used as a stand alone treatment, and an effective one at that. The Plex treatment is the new kid on the block! This specific treatment is designed to drastically reduce the amount of breakage during a colouring service predominately when bleaching the hair, but can also be added to your tint service. Both Keratin smoothing and Plex services can be pricey so do your research and ask a professional hairdresser if you are the right candidate for such a service.

So, which treatments do we recommend. We have put together a list of some of our favourites.

MOISTURE TREATMENTS:

1 DAVINES – NOU NOU MASK ( OLIVE BUTTER AND VITAMIN E)

2 PURE – SACRED MASK ( ARGAN OIL AND SHEA BUTTER)

3 GOLDWELL – MOIST REPAIR 30 SEC MASK ( PASHMINA SILK PROTEINS)

REPAIR TREATMENTS:

1 SARYNA KEY- DAMAGE REPAIR ( KERATIN TREATMENT THAT CONTAINS SHEA BUTTER)

DSC00032

Ingredients

2-3 x whole Bananas

1 cup non fat vanilla yoghurt

4 tablespoons of cocoa powder or your favourite chocolate protein powder if you like a sweeter taste

1 x whole Avocado

2 tablespoons of flaked almonds

1 tablespoon of shredded coconut

Step 1

Slice 2 whole bananas into small round pieces and arrange onto a board or plate, try not to have them touching each other as you arrange them on the board. Once done place the board in the freezer for 45 minutes to chill.

Step 2 (allow 45 minutes to pass before completing step 2)

Take one whole avocado and remove the skin and stone, once this is done slice the remainder of the avocado into small pieces and place into the blender or food processor.  Now add the chilled bananas and blend/mix together.

Step 3

Add 1 cup vanilla yoghurt to the banana and avocado mix, along with 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder (or protein powder) and 2 tablespoons of flaked almonds in the blender. Blend all the ingredients until thoroughly mixed. (You may need to stop the blender and use a spoon to move the ingredients gathering on the sides so as to make sure all the ingredients are mixing together evenly).

Step 4

Once your mixture is evenly blended, remove contents from the blender and place into a plastic food container with lid suitable for freezing and place into the freezer for approx 4 hours.

Step 5. (after at least 4 hours)

Remove contents from the freezer. Scoop out into your bowl and enjoy! You may wish to dust your ice-cream with shredded coconut and diced pieces of banana for extra flavour.
